    Replaced

Replaced is an intimate exploration of love, loss, and the fragile boundary between memory and reconstruction. Known for blurring the line between documentary and fiction, the artist turns her lens inward, reclaiming a story that once unfolded beyond her control. What was lived is now carefully directed, framed, and performed anew, extending the life of a relationship suspended between the impulse to let go and the longing to hold on.

    Father

The photographer’s journey to another place and another time, where she makes an attempt to piece together an image of a familiar stranger: her father. Markosian was separated from him for nearly two decades. In this book, the artist renders her longing for connection to a man she barely remembers, who asks her:
“Why did it take you so long?”

    Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara reconstructs the artist’s family’s migration from post-Soviet Russia to the United States through a series of staged photographs. Reimagining her family history from her mother’s perspective, the work becomes an attempt to see her not only as a parent, but as a woman, tracing the sacrifices, dislocation, and reinvention required to become American.
